SEASON 14 LAUNCH PATCH — ITEMIZATION UPDATE

Enchanting &
Guaranteed Affixes

Two of the biggest itemization changes in Diablo IV's history landed with the Season 14 launch patch: every Unique now drops with guaranteed affixes, and Mythic Uniques can finally be Enchanted. Together they make endgame gearing far more predictable — here is exactly what changed and how to use it.

What Changed at Launch

For most of Diablo IV's life, the rarest items were also the most random — a Mythic Unique could drop with stats you couldn't touch, and a near-perfect copy came down to pure luck. The Season 14 launch patch (build 3.1.0, June 30, 2026) reworks that in two ways that stack directly with the Mythic 3.0 overhaul.

Two Guaranteed Affixes
Every Unique now drops with two guaranteed affixes — a fixed, predictable baseline on top of its signature Unique Power. You always know part of what you are getting, which turns target-farming a specific Unique from a lottery into a plan.
Enchant Mythic Uniques
Mythic Uniques can now be Enchanted — you can reroll an affix the same way you would on a Legendary, and on a Mythic the added affix rolls at its maximum value. Previously these top-rarity items were locked, so a near-perfect Mythic with one bad stat was dead weight. Now you can fix it.
Mythic 3.0 Synergy
Mythic is now a quality tier any Ancestral Unique can roll — all stats maxed and +30% Unique Power, expanding the chase pool from 12 items to over 100. With Enchanting on top, you can push a Unique to Mythic and then tune its rerollable affix to your build.
Less RNG, Clearer Targets
Guaranteed affixes set a floor; Enchanting raises the ceiling. The result is the most deterministic endgame gearing Diablo IV has had — fewer wasted drops and a clear goal for every slot rather than an endless reroll grind.

Guaranteed Affixes, Explained

When a Unique drops, two of its affix lines are now guaranteed rather than rolled from a wide pool. The item's signature Unique Power is unchanged; what's new is that the supporting stats are no longer a coin-flip. In practice this means a Unique you farm for a specific build will reliably carry the stats that build needs, instead of occasionally dropping as an unusable copy.

It also makes comparing two drops of the same Unique far simpler — you are judging the rolls within a known frame, not whether the item rolled the right affixes at all. And it pairs directly with the chase: because Mythic 3.0 expands the Mythic pool past 100 items, guaranteed affixes keep that larger pool from becoming overwhelming. You can plan around what each Unique will bring before you ever farm it.

Enchanting Mythic Uniques

Enchanting — rerolling a single affix on an item — has always been the core of fine-tuning a build, but the top-rarity Mythic Uniques were locked: their affixes were fixed, which is exactly why a Mythic with one off-stat was so frustrating. The launch patch removes that restriction. You can now Enchant, Temper and Transfigure Mythic Uniques at the Occultist and through the Horadric Cube's affix tools once you have completed the Lord of Hatred campaign — and on a Mythic, any added affix rolls at its maximum value.

Combined with the Cube's Tuning Prisms — which bias reroll results toward offensive, defensive, or utility categories — this gives you real control over your best items for the first time. The workflow is simple: land the Mythic, confirm its two guaranteed affixes, then Enchant the remaining rerollable line toward your build's priority stat. For the full crafting toolkit behind this, see the Horadric Cube guide.

How to Put It to Work

Farm with intent

Because Uniques now carry guaranteed affixes, pick your target Uniques per slot before you grind. You know what each will contribute, so build your farming route around the specific items your build wants rather than hoping for a lucky roll. The Season 14 tier list notes the build-defining Uniques for each top class.

Fix, don't replace

A Mythic with one wrong stat is no longer scrap. Enchant the rerollable affix instead of farming a fresh copy — it is faster and far cheaper than chasing a perfect natural drop, and it is the single biggest quality-of-life change in the patch for endgame players.

Stack with Mythic 3.0

Any Ancestral Unique can now reach Mythic quality, with stats maxed and +30% Unique Power. Prioritise pushing your best build-defining Uniques to Mythic, then Enchant to finish them. That combined loop — chase, max, tune — is the new top-end gearing flow for Season of Death Awakening.
