WAR PLANS — LORD OF HATRED EXPANSION

War Plans
Complete Guide

War Plans is a permanent endgame system introduced with Lord of Hatred that lets you build a structured playlist of up to five endgame activities, complete them in sequence, and collect a consolidated War Chest of rewards at the end. It removes the decision paralysis of traditional endgame grinding and replaces it with something that rewards investment over time.

How to Unlock War Plans

War Plans are accessible only after completing the full Lord of Hatred campaign. Once complete, travel to Temis in the Skovos region and locate the Command Table. This is where all War Plans are created and managed. You also need to have reached Torment difficulty — War Plans are an endgame feature, not a leveling tool.

War Plans is a permanent Lord of Hatred expansion feature. It is not a seasonal mechanic and will be available in all future seasons for players who own the expansion.

How It Works

At the Command Table you select up to five activities from the available pool and arrange them in sequence. Once you begin, the game transitions you between activities automatically — teleporting between content and generating required sigils without interruption. When all five activities are complete you return to Temis and open the War Chest, a consolidated reward containing loot, Horadric Cube materials, gold, and XP based on the activities you ran and how well your Activity Skill Trees are developed.

The Tree of Whispers is a special case — it runs concurrently with other activities rather than occupying a slot. Everything else takes one of your five slots. You can stack the same activity multiple times in a single plan if you want to focus farming a specific content type.

What Changed in Season 14

Season 14: Season of Death Awakening reworks War Plans for group play and tunes their rewards. The headline change is party board syncing — in a party, one player can start a vote to share their board, and if everyone accepts, that exact plan, with its progress and objectives, is pushed to the whole group. Plans sync regardless of each player's War Plan Level, Torment Level, or campaign completion, so you can finally run the same playlist together instead of grinding separate objectives.

The other Season 14 changes: War Plan activity XP scaling improves at Torment VIII and above; Infernal Hordes and Nightmare Dungeon (Escalation Sigil) base XP is increased; new War Plan quests are added for longer Helltides and Nightmare Dungeon Escalations; and Helltide progress now tracks Cinders collected — 75 in Normal through Penitent, 250 in Torment I and up — rather than chests opened.

Available Activities

Nightmare Dungeons
Reliable XP and Glyph leveling. Best early-plan choice for consistent progression. Scale difficulty for better loot quality.
Helltide
Strong for targeted Unique farming via Tortured Gift chests. High density content suits fast-clear builds.
Kurast Undercity
Best source for Set Charms outside of dedicated boss runs. Prioritise for Talisman system progression.
Lair Bosses
Target farming for specific Uniques and Mythics. Essential in mid-to-late endgame. Stack Lair Boss slots for efficient Unique grinding.
Infernal Hordes
Strong Horadric Cube material income alongside decent Unique drop rates. Good balance of materials and gear drops.
The Pit
Glyph leveling and leaderboard pushing. High-Tier Pit runs are the primary endgame challenge — reserve this slot for dedicated push sessions.

Activity Skill Trees

Each activity has its own Skill Tree, leveling from 1 to 7, with unlockable nodes that permanently change how that content plays when included in a War Plan. Nodes can spawn additional events, increase enemy density, add bonus loot drops, guarantee specific material types, and occasionally trigger rare events like multiple Mythic drops in a single run.

RESPEC WARNING
Activity Skill Tree respec costs rise steeply at higher skill ranks — reaching up to 50 million gold at maximum investment. Plan your skill tree choices carefully before committing. The general advice is to invest heavily in the two or three activities that align most with your farming goals and leave the others at lower investment levels.

Early Season Priority

Invest first in Nightmare Dungeon and Helltide skill trees — these activities provide the most consistent returns for early endgame progression across XP, Glyph leveling, and Unique drops. Do not spread points too thin across all six activities.

Mid Season Priority

Shift investment toward Lair Boss and Kurast Undercity trees as you begin targeting specific Uniques and Set Charms for your Talisman. The Lair Boss final node unlocking Ancestral Armament tributes is widely considered the most impactful investment in the entire War Plans system.

Late Season Priority

Infernal Hordes and The Pit become the priority for players pushing the leaderboard or farming Horadric Cube materials for Transfiguration. High-tier Pit runs paired with a fully developed Pit skill tree provide the best endgame reward density once your gear ceiling is near completion.

War Chest Rewards

The War Chest at the end of a completed plan consolidates rewards from all five activities into a single collection. The quality and quantity of rewards scale with activity difficulty, how many Skill Tree nodes you have invested in each activity, and whether you completed any bonus objectives during the run. A fully invested War Plan at high difficulty outperforms individually running the same activities without the War Plans structure — the consolidation bonus is meaningful.
